چکیده
Dr. Crésio Alves – Rua Plínio Moscoso 222 / 601 40157-190 Salvador BA Brasil. E-mail: [email protected] Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculopathy (CIDP) is an immune-mediated disorder for which specific clinical cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), electrophysiologic and histological criteria have been proposed. CIPD is an uncommon cause of childhood polyneuropathy. Descriptions of children with CIPD are scarce. Therefore, this article intends to report a case about an adolescent with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) with a satisfactory therapeutic response to immunoglobulin and methylprednisolone. This presentation highlights the importance of investigating diabetic patients, including children, with polyneuropathy in an attempt to identify the ones with demyelinating polyneuropathy, because of the likelihood of these patients to benefit from immumodulatory and/or immunossupressive treatment.

A case of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy presented with unilateral ptosis
Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy is an autoimmune disease with progressive and relapsing courses. The main clinical presentations are diffuse deep tendon hyporeflexia or areflexia and symmetric proximal-distal muscles weakness. Myasthenia gravis is also an immune mediated disease with fluctuating ocular and bulbar symptoms and sometimes weakness. Although both myasthenia grav...

The authors report a 57-year-old patient with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) associated with diabetes mellitus (DM) who was treated successfully with rituximab. The B lymphocyte suppression using rituximab was followed 4 weeks later by neurological improvement and a stable disease course of over 10 months. We suggest that rituximab may be a treatment option in CIDP inc...

The authors report the case of a 54-year old type-2 diabetic female patient with a Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). She progressively developed distal hypoesthesia and tetraparesis. She deteriorated after two courses of intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) administration and became rapidly wheelchair bound. After one month of steroid treatment, the patient was walking alo...
متن کاملO20: NK Cells as Surrogate Marker for Predicting Treatment Efficacy in Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy
Natural Killer (NK) cells are part of our innate immune system with regulatory and effector functions. Different studies suggest that treatment with intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIg) has an immunomodulatory effect on NK cells. IVIg is a first-line treatment for various autoimmune diseases in particular in chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). The lack of predictive markers ...

OBJECTIVE The possibility of co-association between diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) has long been a focus of interest as well as of clinical significance. As CIDP is a potentially treatable condition, it is diagnosis in the context of DM is of great importance. However, diagnostic criteria to identify CIDP in patients with diabetes are not ava...
